A&W Menu & Prices is a fast-food restaurant chain known for its own brand of root beer. It is one of the oldest food franchises. A&W prices are comparable to the rest of fast food.

A&W Menu & Prices offers a variety of hot and cold foods, including burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and frozen treats. But most people visit A&W for their A&W Root Beer. You can also buy half-gallon sizes of their root beer, as shown below. A&W began as a stand selling root beer but eventually expanded into a full-service restaurant.

A&W Restaurants History

The very first A&W Root Beer was served by founder Roy Allen in a roadside stand set up for a parade for veterans returning from WWI in 1919. Allen soon followed, franchising the beverage. This is arguably the oldest franchise business in the United States.

Four years later, after teaming up with partner Frank Wright, the first A&W restaurant opened. It also featured drive-through services. In 1956, Canada opened the first international A&W location. There were already 2000 A&W stores in Canada and the U.S. by 1960.

Great American Brand, headquartered in Lexington Kentucky, now owns A&W Restaurants. As of 2016, there are approximately 1,200 A&W Restaurants around the world.
